As the title says "Social Experiments have enhanced the quality of all mankind", whilst I cannot speak for all mankind, I would like to run a social experiment to test the theory, today.
Can we, using our social networks and connections, find or create a specific position in a specific field for a professional with over 25 years' experience?
The positions James seeks are within the Enterprise Architecture, Cloud Architecture & Technology sectors.
Should you have a position available or desire to create such a role, then please get in touch with James using the contact details below.
If not, then thank you for reading and please like, comment and share this message and we will see, if together, we can get James working.
Ideally, I’m not looking for 100 recruiters to make contact, looking for registrations and sign ups, however if a recruiter has the specific positions, we would love to hear from them.
In return I will give updates on James’s progress, how many connections he makes, the number of relevant opportunities created, number of interviews attended (be it virtual or in person) and ultimately, who James now works for.
Let me tell you about James.
James St Ledger:
Having over 25 years working in fast paced diverse IT environments and companies around the world, I bridge the gap from legacy on-site IT solutions to hybrid and cloud native modern architectures. The challenges I have faced along the way are just as prevalent in modern solutions as they were 20 years ago. Keeping up to date with new advancements is always a challenge, but necessary to remain relevant, and to continue to provide value to employers and customers alike.
Born in Dublin, Ireland in 1975, I found my way into computing from a very early age with the release of the Commodore 64. This was followed some years later when I got my hands on the IT lab at the University of Limerick. VAX/VMS and Xenix, along with a half decent internet connection, completely changed my life, and a passion was born.
After completing a business application programming and computer science course in Dublin, my career started in Intel Ireland, building PCs. This progressed to Symantec where I worked as QA engineer.
During this period, I had invested in a nice home PC setup and dial-up internet, where I got access to a global network of people in the form of IRC. It was here that I found some friends in Austin, Tx, which ultimately led to me moving there and working. Now my second passion was born, travelling.
Over the years, I have lived and worked in Ireland, USA, Sweden, Canada, and Malaysia, and travelled to countless other countries (mostly around Europe, and more recently in Southeast Asia). Having worked previously as a consultant in Kuala Lumpur over a period of time while living in Sweden, I was afforded an opportunity to work here permanently in 2022, and in January 2023 I moved to Kuala Lumpur, which is now where I call home.
In late 2024 I was informed that my father was terminally ill and did not have much time left, and I decided to take a career break to help at home. I am now back in Kuala Lumpur, and I am ready to get back into the deep end.
What do I do...
Enterprise Architecture, Cloud Architecture, Technology Evangelism.
My role has diversified over the many positions I have held in my career, but the theme remained similar. Application integration, infrastructure planning, development, and architecture. This progressed through the commodity on-premises solutions like HPE and Solaris servers, to more modern cloud compute infrastructures, with my focus being on AWS.
Experience:
- AWS Solutions Architecture. Having worked with AWS directly, I got a lot of insights into the inner workings of the company, along with a lot of experience and knowledge of the AWS ecosystem of services
- End to end telecom & enterprise mediation architecture, solution design and planning for both online and offline charging solutions. Focus on cost reduction in CSP data centres, and simplification of infrastructure and architecture to meet current and future needs, both on-premises, hybrid, and in cloud environments.
- Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Management.
- Account management, both end-customers and partners.
Goals:
- To become a leading authority on modern technology solutions and how the gap from legacy to cloud can/should be bridged
- To help companies understand and realise the security, cost, and agility benefits with using public cloud for their IT workloads, but also to help them capitalise on these benefits
- To drive and promote knowledge within the organisation
- To exceed personal, customer, and organisational expectations.
